The research on the production of Chinese medicinal materials is one of the crucial links in the research and development of traditional Chinese medicine. Establishing standardized criteria for the production, harvesting, and processing of Chinese medicinal materials into decoction pieces is of utmost significance for ensuring the quality of Chinese medicinal materials products and even Chinese patent medicine products. Therefore, in the process of modernizing and internationalizing traditional Chinese medicine, it is essential to start by focusing on the quality of Chinese medicinal materials. We need to establish a quality standard and specification system for Chinese medicinal materials that conforms to international common standards and specifications and has the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine, and gradually develop it into an international standard for the research and development of traditional medicines, thus providing an institutional guarantee for the modernization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine.

The research project on the standardized cultivation of Chinese medicinal materials should be guided by the National Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) for Chinese Medicinal Materials. Through scientific research work, formulate the standardized cultivation standard operating procedures (SOP) for each type of Chinese medicinal material, establish and perfect the quality standard system for medicinal material production, produce high-quality Chinese medicinal materials, and promote the modern research and development of traditional Chinese medicine in China. To guide the implementation of the project on the standardized cultivation of Chinese medicinal materials and ensure the smooth completion of the project and the achievement of the set goals, our center has formulated the project implementation guidelines and acceptance criteria according to the requirements of the special contract and after soliciting the opinions of experts for the reference and implementation by the project undertakers.

I. Principles to Be Followed in Project Research Work

1. Take the "Good Agricultural Practice for Chinese Medicinal Materials" (hereinafter referred to as GAP for Chinese Medicinal Materials) to be issued by the National Medical Products Administration as the basic principle. Control various factors affecting the quality of medicinal materials, standardize all production links and even the entire production process of medicinal materials, so as to achieve the goal of making medicinal materials "authentic, high-quality, stable, and controllable".

2. Adhere to the principle of highlighting the quality of medicinal materials. The ultimate goal of the research work is to produce Chinese medicinal materials with stable quality. Therefore, the entire research process must give priority to quality.

3. Adhere to the principles of being scientific and authentic. The research work must be based on scientific design and implementation to ensure the authenticity and operability of all conclusions, data, procedures, and standards.

4. Encourage the application of new technologies.
